Don't Stop Praying
It’s not often we hear the effect of a prayer.
Most of the time we don’t remember what we were praying about - at least the older I get the more frequently that happens!
It is a comfort to me to know that while I forget the prayers I have prayed and who I have prayed for, God never forgets!
We read in Revelation 5:8 that the prayers of the Saints are stored in gold bowls and are like incense to God!
God doesn’t have a prayer spam folder for that same old request. He doesn’t hit the delete button without hearing us out. No, He listens and He treasures our prayers!
Sometimes we are blessed with hearing the outcome of a prayer.
John was visiting Edwin Muchoki at Beyond the Vision Community School in the informal settlement of Tassia when Edwin asked John if he remembered praying for him.
John didn’t remember so Edwin recounted his prayer request. Edwin had entered school at an older age and had quite a bit of catching up to do. When John was at the school for the first time in 2018 Edwin was at the end of his second year in the 8th grade.
On that day he had asked John to pray that he would pass the required tests so he could finally graduate from 8th grade and go to high school.
Edwin remembered the prayer and was grateful that the Lord heard and answered his request!
John and Edwin had a wonderful time visiting together as John encouraged, mentored and they shared time in prayer. Whenever Edwin returns to BVCS he encourages and mentors the children following in his footsteps.
He graduated from university and is working in an administrative position at a large hospital in Nairobi. But his best example is a heart that not only turns to God in prayer for all things but is grateful and remembers to thank God for answered prayer.
So don’t stop praying!
We invite you to join us in prayer.
John and I pray that these children will become ambassadors for Christ and a mighty army going out into the community sharing the love of God and the gospel message.
So please join us in that same prayer!
Some day we will be living together in perfect community and prefect relationship, and you will get to meet these bothers and sisters in faith. Because God is better than we can possibly imagine and His heart is to heal, protect, shelter and bless these little ones.
Father God, we thank you for answered prayer! Thank you for the waiting so we grow closer to You! Thank you for teaching us Your heart so that we may treasure what You treasure. Lord, we pray for each learner and staff member that you would bless and protect them. Cover them under the shelter of your wing. Help the building foundations withstand the coming El Nino rains. Lord, may these children grow in discipleship and love for You that they will become a mighty army for the Lord and ambassadors for Christ!
